Mandarin Consulting Limited is a consultancy firm with four office locations in the UK offering career consultancy services to Chinese clients in both the UK and China. With offices also in the US and China, the company is now looking for candidates to join the fast growing business as Account Manager – Sales.

The successful candidates will be working in the company’s Sales and Marketing department, a collaborative, client facing team in the heart of the business directly contributing to the company’s fast growing revenue. With the majority of the company’s target clients being Chinese speaking fresh graduates from leading UK universities, the company would love to hear from bilingual talents who also have in-depth understanding in our customers’ native culture and consuming mentality, and can relate to them with ease in the business’s daily marketing practice.


 

Details of duties:

  • - Discusses our clients’ requirements;

  • - Liaises with manager to decide the service/products to be offered to our clients;

  • - Handles clients’ accounts;

  • - Contributes to the development of sales strategies and setting of sales targets;

  • - Analyses sales figures;

  • - Prepares proposals for marketing and promotional events;

  • - Keeps updated information with service/products and our competitors.


Daily:

  • Consultatively develops suitable potential clients on the market, through University Campus Assistants team;

  • Strategically cultivates suitable potential clients on Chinese internet platforms, Chinese social network sites;

  • Designs and circulates marketing messages to attract leads;

  • Arranges and attends consultative sales meetings with potential clients;

  • Attends follow up meetings with potential clients and clients, discusses their needs and handling objections;

  • Closes deal meetings;

  • Attends new client briefing meetings as part of post-sale service;

  • Briefs programme management team about new clients needs;

  • Organises and attends university seminars;

  • Attends networking functions;

  • Drafts proposals for marketing and promotional events;

  • Keeps updated information on competitors;

  • Suggests new sales and account management strategies to senior management;

  • Researches on job market information for clients;

  • Trains sales campus assistants and manages their warm leads generating work;

  • Discusses with potential partners on marketing and sales promotion activities;


Weekly:

  • Attends weekly sales team meetings, reports on sales activities, analyses sales figures, shares market information, reports to management of weekly targets;


Monthly:

  • Compiles monthly sales reports to management team.


Details of skill, experience and qualifications required for this post:

  • - An undergraduate degree or above from a recognised UK university;

  • - Fluent in both English and Mandarin;

  • - Professional communication skills with an ability to present information clearly and with confidence;

  • - Enthusiastic and passionate about the company’s service and a result driven approach, be ready to grow with the company;

  • - Relevant experience in marketing and sales especially in service industry;

  • - Profound understanding in Chinese culture and consumer behaviour.

To provide a direct link to the MAHLE Powertrain NTYB project team in the UK to the Chinese supply base (nominated by the customer and approved by MAHLE) and to the customers’ vehicle engineering team.


DUTIES

Manage suppliers of engine components from Chinese supply base (supporting NTYB project) using APQP processes for new engine assembly, divided into the following systems:

  • - Cranktrain system

  • - Cylinder block

  • - Cylinder head

  • - Ancillary drive

  • - Cooling

  • - Camdrive & valvetrain

  • - EMS, emissions & electrical

  • - Sealing & covers

  • - Lubrication & breather

  • - Intake & fuel

  • - Exhaust

  • - Whole engine

Manage interface systems between customer vehicle and MAHLE engine engineering teams:

  • - Air intake system

  • - Exhaust system

  • - Cooling system

  • - Transmission

  • - Wiring harness

  • - Engine Management System

  • - Fuel & purge systems

  • - HVAC system

Liaise with MAHLE Powertrain NTYB project to define MAHLE Powertrain project activities to achieve customer global project timing (including milestone and gateways)

Provide understanding of customer processes and vehicle development testing that will be followed during the program

Organise and facilitate supplier meetings

Participate in internal project review meetings as requested

Support customer meetings


Location: Shangrao or Hangzhou


Qualifications

A relevant Engineering Degree i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Automotive


Skills and Experience

  • An experienced user of MS software: Word, Excel, Power Point, Project

  • The ability to build relationships to customers and suppliers is essential

  • Strong technical background is essential

  • Strong negotiation skills are essential

  • Excellent communication skills are essential

  • The ability to influence the customer, senior management and team members is essential 

  • Good facilitator of meetings is desirable 

  • The ability to identify and control risks to an engineering program is desirable

  • Good time management & delegation skills are desirable

  • At least 10 years experience in the field of engine technology Aeronautical, Marine, Off Road, Two wheel of which a minimum of 5 years in the Automotive Industry

  • A high technical level in one of the major Automotive Engineering disciplines: Design, Development, Calibration and a good understanding of the remaining disciplines

  • Knowledge of Quality Engineering processes and procedures: APQP, Product Specification, System Specification, FMEA, Design Verification Planning, Concerns System

  • Experience of vehicle integration engineering is essential

  • Understanding of Chinese culture is desirable

  • English speaking essential

  • Experience of working in a consultancy environment would be beneficial
